\nHARARE<\/strong>\u00a0– BOTSWANA President Duma Boko has begun a three-day State visit to Zimbabwe, signalling renewed momentum in strengthening economic, political and social cooperation between the two Southern African neighbours.<\/strong><\/p>\n

President Boko was accorded a ceremonial welcome in Harare, including a 21-gun salute and inspection of the Guard of Honour, underscoring the importance Zimbabwe attaches to the visit.<\/p>\n

Hosted by Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the visit is expected to focus on deepening bilateral trade, infrastructure development and regional integration under the Southern African Development Community (SADC).<\/p>\n

The two leaders are also set to deliberate on cross-border cooperation, energy security, migration management and industrialisation, key priorities for both nations.<\/p>\n

Zimbabwe and Botswana share long-standing historical ties rooted in the liberation struggle and decades of diplomatic cooperation.<\/p>\n

Their relationship has evolved into a strategic partnership anchored on trade, investment and people-to-people exchanges.<\/p>\n

Botswana remains one of Zimbabwe\u2019s key regional trading partners, with collaboration spanning mining, agriculture, tourism and financial services.<\/p>\n

At the centre of discussions is the need to unlock economic opportunities through improved border efficiency, particularly at key crossing points such as Plumtree\u2013Ramokgwebana, which serves as a vital trade corridor.<\/p>\n

Enhancing transport and logistics systems is expected to boost intra-regional trade and reduce the cost of doing business.<\/p>\n

Energy cooperation is also likely to feature prominently, as both countries seek sustainable solutions to power shortages affecting industrial productivity.<\/p>\n

Opportunities in renewable energy, including solar power, are expected to be explored, alongside broader climate resilience strategies.<\/p>\n

In welcoming President Boko, President Mnangagwa highlighted the enduring relationship between the two nations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe deep-rooted historical ties and shared vision for a prosperous future underscore the relationship between our nations. I anticipate fruitful discussions that will further strengthen bilateral cooperation and the fraternal bonds between our two nations,\u201d Mnangagwa said.<\/p>\n

Beyond economic priorities, the visit is expected to reinforce political solidarity and regional stability.<\/p>\n

Both leaders are likely to exchange views on peace and security in the SADC region, as well as collective responses to global economic pressures.<\/p>\n

The visit reflects a broader recognition that closer cooperation between neighbouring countries delivers mutual benefits, including increased trade, job creation, infrastructure development and enhanced resilience against external shocks.<\/p>\n

As the engagements unfold, Botswana and Zimbabwe are positioning themselves to leverage their partnership not only for national growth but also for advancing regional integration and shared prosperity across Southern Africa.<\/p>\n
