\nBEITBRIDGE,<\/strong> (CAJ News)<\/em> – THE Zimbabwe African National Congress (ZANC) has raised serious concern over mounting delays and alleged irregularities affecting citizens at the Beitbridge Border Post.<\/strong><\/p>\n

ZANC President Timothy Mncube said the party had received a growing number of complaints from travellers whose goods were reportedly being confiscated under unclear and, in some cases, inconsistent procedures.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile we fully acknowledge and respect the critical role played by authorities in maintaining order and enforcing regulations, it is imperative that such actions are conducted with transparency, fairness and due regard for the rights of citizens,\u201d Mncube said.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cZANC stands firmly for justice, accountability and the protection of ordinary Zimbabweans.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mncube called on the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) at Beitbridge Border Post to urgently review its practices to ensure all procedures are fully aligned with the law and principles of fairness.<\/p>\n

\u201cCitizens deserve to be treated with dignity, and their hard-earned property must not be taken without proper cause and due process,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

However, Mncube said Emmerson Mnangagwa was unlikely to be directly involved in, or aware of, the developments at the border.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs responsible leaders, we must avoid assigning blame without clear evidence. We view this as an administrative matter that can and should be addressed at the appropriate level,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He added that ZANC remained committed to supporting the government where necessary while constructively highlighting areas that require improvement.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur shared objective is to build a better Zimbabwe founded on fairness, unity and mutual respect. We encourage all stakeholders to address this matter in a calm, lawful and solution-oriented manner,\u201d Mncube said.<\/p>\n
