JOHANNESBURG<\/strong> <\/em>– MORE charges have been slapped on the son of former Zimbabwean president, Robert Mugabe, and a co-accused following a shooting incident in Johannesburg last week.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Initially, Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe, the deceased\u2019s son, and an alleged accomplice, identified in court as Tobias Mugabe Mutonge, were facing a charge of attempted murder for the shooting of a gardener at the former\u2019s place of residence in Hyde Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They made their first appearance at the Alexandra Magistrates Court on Monday, when two more charges \u2013 defeating\/obstructing the course of justice and possession of a firearm-were added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The state is opposing bail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The matter will be heard next Tuesday, March 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Between now and the date, investigators must ascertain the status of the accused in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two appeared calm, both clad in black hooded jackets, on appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The charge of defeating\/obstructing the course of justice stems from the fact that the gun that was used in the shooting has since not been found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It remains a mystery how it disappeared from the crime scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bellarmine Chatunga (29), Mugabe\u2019s youngest son, has a history of violence back in Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2017 in South Africa, he was involved in an incident that led to her mother, Grace, assaulting a model she found in the company of the Mugabe sons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former first lady has a pending warrant of arrest for the incident that occurred in Johannesburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
