{"id":1373,"date":"2025-11-27T15:10:22","date_gmt":"2025-11-27T15:10:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/matabeletoday.com\/?p=1373"},"modified":"2025-11-27T15:10:24","modified_gmt":"2025-11-27T15:10:24","slug":"wireless-connectivity-to-africas-remote-industries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/matabeletoday.com\/?p=1373","title":{"rendered":"Wireless connectivity to Africa\u2019s remote industries"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>by <em>MTHULISI SIBANDA<\/em><br><strong>JOHANNESBURG<\/strong> <strong>&#8211; THE integrator of technology solutions, NEC XON, is bringing high-performance wireless connectivity to Africa\u2019s remote industries.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It pledges to address unreliable connectivity, which it notes is prevalent across Africa\u2019s ports, mines and energy corridors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NEC XON\u2019s new high-performance outdoor wireless solution, according to the firm, aims to change that, combining satellite, wireless backhaul (point-to-multipoint wireless and point to point) and long-range Wi-Fi in a seamless, resilient network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Willem Wentzel, Senior Architect at NEC XON, said many enterprises in Africa faced chronic coverage gaps due to inconsistent network and fibre infrastructure, particularly across vast or transient sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFor mining operations, construction projects or logistics terminals, traditional Wi-Fi and terrestrial networks often fall short in range, reliability and cost-efficiency,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNEC XON\u2019s integrated approach bridges these gaps through a layered architecture that combines OneWeb\u2019s low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite backhaul, Mimosa\u2019s high-capacity point-to-multipoint wireless and point to point links, and Super Wi-Fi access technology &#8211; providing outdoor-grade, long-distance connectivity up to ten times the range of standard access points.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NEC XON integrates managed services such as closed-circuit television (CCTV), analytics, cybersecurity and network operations centre (NOC) monitoring, ensuring uptime, visibility and security across enterprise and industrial networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wentzel noted the solution was designed as an enabling ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBy combining satellite resilience, intelligent backhaul and extended-range Wi-Fi, we are giving African industries the connectivity foundation they need to grow, automate and stay secure.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>\u2013 CAJ News<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by MTHULISI SIBANDAJOHANNESBURG &#8211; THE integrator of technology solutions, NEC XON, is bringing high-performance wireless connectivity to Africa\u2019s remote industries.
