Chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on International Relations and Cooperation, Supra Mahumapelo, praised President Cyril Ramaphosa\u2019s leadership and hailed the successful hosting of the G20 Social Summit, describing it as a milestone not only for South Africa but for the entire continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the first time in G20 history, all African nations have been invited, transforming the summit into a truly global forum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diplomats say this historic inclusion strengthens South Africa\u2019s role as Africa\u2019s diplomatic anchor and economic gateway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Analysts argue that the presence of the continent elevates Pretoria\u2019s voice, positions African priorities at the centre of global negotiations, and is likely to boost South Africa\u2019s economy through new investment commitments, expanded trade channels and expanded continental cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mahumapelo highlighted that the Social Summit declaration embraces a people-centred Just Transition, calling for grant financing, concessional loans and debt-relief mechanisms to support climate action\u2014priorities long championed by African states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The declaration\u2019s endorsement of universal access to clean, affordable energy by 2030 signals a major victory for developing nations seeking equitable development pathways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

South Africa\u2019s diplomatic resilience has also earned admiration across Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
