CAIRO – NISSAN has officially launched sales of the locally assembled Magnite in Egypt, marking a significant milestone in the company’s manufacturing strategy and reinforcing the country’s ambitions to become a regional automotive production and export hub.

Production of the compact SUV began last month at Nissan Egypt’s plant in 6th of October City following a US$45 million investment by Nissan Motor Company.

With more than 55% local content, the Magnite supports Egypt’s Automotive Industrial Development Programme and Vision 2030, both of which aim to expand local manufacturing, create jobs and boost exports.

Designed for urban drivers, the Magnite combines Japanese engineering with modern styling, advanced technology and fuel efficiency.

The SUV features a distinctive exterior, 205mm ground clearance, 16-inch alloy wheels and roof rails, while its spacious interior includes more than 19 litres of storage, a configurable 60:40 split-folding rear seat and a boot capacity that expands from 336 to 690 litres.

Technology is a major selling point, with an 8-inch touchscreen supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a seven-inch digital instrument cluster, intelligent keyless entry with remote engine start, rear air-conditioning vents and an air purification system designed to improve cabin air quality.

Safety also takes centre stage.

The Magnite has earned a five-star Global NCAP adult occupant safety rating and comes equipped with six airbags, a 360-degree Around View Monitor, Vehicle Dynamic Control, Hill Start Assist, ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Hydraulic Brake Assist and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.

Power comes from a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with Nissan’s X-TRONIC continuously variable transmission, producing 100 horsepower and 152Nm of torque.

The vehicle delivers fuel efficiency of 17.3km/l, helping to reduce running costs for motorists.

Mohamed AbdElSamad, Managing Director of Nissan Africa, said the launch reflects the company’s long-term confidence in Egypt’s industrial capabilities.

“The locally assembled Nissan Magnite represents an important milestone in our growth journey and demonstrates our continued investment in the Egyptian market,” he said.

“Our expanded production capacity enables us to meet growing demand while strengthening Egypt’s position as a strategic manufacturing and export hub.”

Nissan said the Magnite will be available in four variants, offering Egyptian consumers an affordable entry into the compact SUV segment while supporting the company’s broader strategy to increase local sourcing, create employment opportunities and expand sustainable manufacturing through initiatives such as solar energy and water recycling.
